Ribold

Ribold are offspring born to riardi and kobolds in regions where both populations encountered survival struggles. Although their draconic traits from their kobold heritage is weak, their wish-craft is grounded in an elemental, earthy way. Ribold live for a hundred-fifty years on average versus the usual two hundred that riardi enjoy- it is said that since kobolds only live for fifty, this somehow took fifty away from them. Yet even so, despite this, the ribold have joy alongside the bitterness that their kobold relatives wither before their eyes. They understand loving, grieving, and joy all come hand in hand.

Ribold have one physiological trait from their draconic heritage through their kobold parent. They can not have both draconic traits that kobolds display, and will only display one trait. Their riardi traits will vary according to their riardi parent’s lineage.

Kobolds have ten anatomical differences among one another. These traits are throwbacks to the extinct Intirrian dragons, as follows. Ribold inherit only one of these traits from their kobold heritage:

  • White Kobolds: Possess a third eyeball in the center of the forehead and an additional eyeball on the tail tip; both extra eyes are fully functional and equipped with protective lenses.
  • Yellow Kobolds: Feature a crest of feathers on the top of the head (may include head hair) and a solid orb at the tip of the tail.
  • Orange Kobolds: Characterized by a multi-pronged tail tip and bushy, hair-like fur extending from the shoulders down the spine and tail.
  • Red Kobolds: Display sharp, hooked spikes along the spine and tail, featuring a flaming tail tip surrounded by non-combustible feathers.
  • Brown Kobolds: Have long, straight spikes growing along the spine, terminating in a cluster of spikes at the tail tip.
  • Green Kobolds: Feature back-slanting horns, rock formations growing from the spine, and a quartz cluster on the tail tip.
  • Turquoise Kobolds: Possess leaf-shaped scales protruding from the forehead and diamond-shaped vertical plates along the spine.
  • Blue Kobolds: Defined by spiny fins that grow from the top of the head down to a shell-tipped tail.
  • Purple Kobolds: Exhibit a multi-pronged tail tip emerging from a mixture of feathers, shells, rocks, fur, and other physical traits associated with other kobold colors.
  • Black Kobolds: Have glow-capable orbs on stalks down the back and tail, with a larger orb on the head protected by angular, plate-like scales at the base.

Though Intirrian dragons were also grey, copper, silver, and gold, these colors and corresponding physiological traits do not show up in the kobolds, and such colors do not show up in the ribold from their kobold influences- however, their riardi parent might still pass these colors into their ribold offspring.

Ribold have introduced the high-gloss mutation into the riardi. See the Riardi Genetic Codex- High-Gloss Mutation for more details.
