Riardi Genetic Codex- High-Gloss Mutation

Introduced to the riardi gene pool via the ribold's kobold heritage (and from them, draconic influences), this mutation confers a highly reflective, lacquer-like quality to the fur. It serves as a visual signal for conspecifics and a potential deterrent to predators.

  • Genetic Code:
    • GLS/GLS: Homozygous Dominant (Full Shell Expression).
    • GLS/-: Heterozygous Dominant (Zonal Sheen Expression).
    • gls/gls: Homozygous Recessive (Standard Coat Texture).

High-Gloss Expressions

  • Full Shell (GLS/GLS): The coat is fully and uniformly affected. The riardi appears coated in polished lacquer or carved from glass, reflecting light in sharp, bright highlights.
  • Zonal Sheen (GLS/-): The high-gloss effect is restricted to specific areas or layers:
    • Anatomical Restriction: Limited to the tail(s) and head hair.
    • Markings Only: Background fur remains standard texture; markings appear as metallic inlays or polished surfaces.
    • Plated Zones: Concentration along the spine, shoulders, and outer limbs, creating a visual illusion of protective armor plating.
  • Standard (gls/gls): The riardi has no high-gloss mutation present.
