Aervalk

Aervalk are aeryardi born as half-riardi, half-valkirie, who began to breed true to their own. The aeryardi communities shunned the valkirie’s ways of discipline and martial skill, and in turn, the valkirie chose to raise the half-valkirie as their own- a difference of opinions between might versus intellect. Aervalk have wings from their backs, and have velvet plush fur plus a mix of gossamer hair and rigid flight feathers on their arms and legs, along with sprays of feathers from the sides of their tails (often also: fully-feathered tails, flatter than a standard riardi tail). Their ears are short and upright.

Aervalk are called Stormbinders by aeryardi Caelbinders and are raised to be atmospheric conditions manipulators in order to be allies to their valkirie kin and the valkirie’s idea of ‘placating’ the Caelbinders. Aervalk wear runes as marks of service and rank, which are in turn enchanted to augment their capabilities. Aervalk are feared by many aeryardi- they represent wish-craft converted into power harnessed for a purpose other than their own self-agency. The aervalk appreciate valkirie’s disciplined culture, and find it refreshing compared with the aeryardi’s culture. Velicline production occurs on their tails.

All aervalk bear the gradient mutation from their valkirie heritage. Their markings come from their riardi heritage, and can include markings from a grandparent or great-grandparent. Their wing markings and colors extend from their riardi heritage as well. As the valkirie do not know that diasaxxis exist, they would be shocked to find that riasax exist. This in turn might complicate things between the various riardi and the valkirie culture.
