Riardi Genetic Codex- Ultra-Bright Mutation

**Ultra-Bright (UB) Mutation Inheritance

The Ultra-Bright locus functions through the interaction of the UB/ub alleles (Presence/Absence) and the UI/UFI/ui alleles (Immunity Status). Riardi with this mutation display a twice-over fur lightening effect on all colors of their body, including their main fur coloration, and it frequently drops pigment to white fur in appearance.

UB Locus Genotype Immunity Locus Genotype Phenotypic Outcome
UB/UB or UB/ub ui/ui Full Ultra-Bright expression
UB/UB or UB/ub UI/UI or UI/ui Partial Ultra-Bright (Localized)
UB/UB or UB/ub UFI/UFI, UFI/ui, or UFI/UI Non-viable
ub/ub Any Normal coloration
  • Dominance: The Ultra-Bright mutation (UB) is dominant over the recessive (ub) allele. Expression occurs in any individual possessing at least one UB copy, provided no full immunity is present.
  • Partial Immunity (UI): Acts as a spatial modifier. Rather than suppressing the mutation, it restricts its manifestation to either the primary fur coat or the secondary markings, creating a chimeric visual effect.
  • Full Immunity (UFI): This represents a genetic incompatibility. When the UFI allele is paired with the UB mutation, the resulting physiological conflict renders the genotype inviable.
  • Default State: In the absence of the UB mutation (ub/ub), the immunity loci have no phenotypic impact on coloration, regardless of whether UI or UFI is present.
