Southern

When Silaanju crafted and imbued the ri’perafi’s souls into humanoid form, the resulting beings became the first riardi body type. Indigenous to the central Nyx-ine region of Intirri, this archetype is historically labeled 'southern' by outsiders based on their primary continent. Among themselves, however, the populace refers to their form as 'given- a literal truth in recognition of Silaanju's deeds giving them renewed life.

Because of this history, southern riardi are regarded by Intirrians as the ancestral standard. Their culture is rooted in a fierce pride regarding their role as the first restored generations of the extinct ri'perafi given humanoid form. This shared history informs their collective psychology: they maintain a foundational warmth toward all riardi, viewing the species' survival as a triumph. Despite this outward amity, they remain structurally insular, prioritizing their local kin and ancestral lineages above the interests of other types. Their warmth is a cultural tradition, but their loyalty is a fixed boundary which is difficult for other riardi to be accepted as chosen family. Nonetheless, chosen families do exist and thus in this way too are invigorating southern society from stagnating. This practice ensures that the southern riardi stay well.

As was mentioned in the Appearance Overview, southern riardi have tails which naturally produce an anti-bacterial, bug-repelling sap which crusts into a resin. This is often used as an incense ingredient, and can be crushed, re-hydrated, and turned into a fatigue-reducing honey. This can be consumed as-is by other Intirrians, or added to fruits for a dessert. Some riardi lack this particular substance, as others produce a toxin-containing wax, while yet others produce thick angora fiber. Others may naturally emit a saponin-type substance.
